How can my child/student use Blooming Kids software?

Blooming Kids Software offers exclusive mouse instruction programs. There are three programs; “mouse training”, “painting” and “wooden puzzles”. Each program will teach your student/child to point, click and drag in an easy and fun manner. You will be amazed at how fast and fun it is for your child to acquire these basic computer operations.

How can my child/student use Blooming Kids software to increase the use of functional language?

The program “Talking Machine” will help children improve their ability to communicate with parents, teachers, and caregivers. Like all of our programs, this is language based. It reinforces the children’s use of language when they use our programs to learn and to have fun. It includes many pictures and animations illustrating daily needs while providing a voice and text that is succinct and detailed.

How can we measure our student’s/child’s progress?

Most of our programs have testing and reporting capabilities. For further detailed information about the specifics of testing and reporting, parents or teachers should consult the user manual or help file.

How do the programs work to help our student/child learn?

Every program begins with a matrix sub-program. The matrix is series of screens; each screen has four (or more) pictures and has an animation box. When a student moves the mouse over a picture, an animation related to that picture appears in the animation box. By clicking on a picture, the student can change it to a different picture of the same item, and a different animation. The student can click on the “>>” button to move to the next screen to see more pictures and animations. This Matrix screen shows pictures of items and then shows their usage, function or action in the animation box. Additionally, skills are taught in isolation. As skills become mastered, new skills are added. This is commonly refereed as the progressive method.

What happens if our student/child needs additional assistance?

All of our programs include an intrinsic prompting system. For example, the correct answer may blink, be outlined, labeled or animated. The prompt appears if the student does not find the correct answer within ten seconds. Positive reinforcement in the form of animation and song is offered for each correct response. Positive reinforcement will increase the likely hood of positive responses.
