BloomingKids My Home

This program uses the home and its surroundings to help the student to learn listening, identifying, and naming skills.

Click on the “Start” button to go to the settings screen of the program.

This program has three modes. They are Demo, Training and Test.

This program also has six sub-programs for each of the three modes. Each sub-program uses one familiar part of the home. These parts are bathroom, bedroom, dining room, front yard, kitchen and living room.

In the setting screen, under Selection, items are listed that appear in the six sub-programs. This list is disabled for “Demo” and “Training”. It is available only for the “Test” mode.
The functions of the buttons in the settings screen are:
Help

Click on the “Help” button to view the help contents. The help file opens in a separate window.
About

Click on the “About” button to view the profile of this company.
Start

Click on the “Start” button to open this program.
Exit

Demo
The “Demo” option is selected by default. When this option is selected, a little girl goes around the selected area, points at the items, and says (for instance) “This is the bathtub.” The program displays the item’s name on a popup text as the girl points to the item.

There are three navigation buttons (Left Arrow, Square, and Right Arrow) at the bottom of the program screen.
Rewind and Play
This is the left arrow. If this button is clicked, the Demo restarts at the beginning.
Stop
This is the square. If this button is clicked, the Demo pauses at the current item. During the pause, the square changes to two vertical lines.
Play
This is the right arrow. Click this button to restart the Demo after a pause.
Done
Click on this button to return to the settings screen.
Training
Select the “Training” mode option, select the sub-program you want, and click “Enter” to start the “Training” program with that sub-program.

The mouse pointer changes from a hand to a hand with a pointing finger when it is over an item. When the student clicks on the item, a green frame appears around the item, the name of the item appears in popup text on the screen, the program pronounces the name of the item, and the name of the item appears at the bottom.

The green frame and the text remain there until the student clicks the next item.
The student can use this program independently.

The student is asked, by the computer, to find and click on the correct item. The list of items comes from the selection made in the setting screen.

Now click on the “Report” button under “Test” to see test results. First the current test result will be shown with the date, starting time, end time, and level of the test. It also shows the percentage of correct answers. There are also buttons for showing test results in different forms. “Report” allows the teacher/parent to measure the student’s progress. The following are available.
Detailed Report
This screen shows test results including the grade, object identified, distracters, and time taken to finish the test.
View Old Records
If there are old test results, they will be shown on this screen. The current test result is always on top.
Bar
Chart If you wish to see test results on a bar chart, click this button.
Overalls
This button appears on the Bar Chart Screen. Here, the student can see the average of all test results of up to the last ten attempts. Written vertically on the bar are: overall percentage of correct answers, and date and starting time of the tests. When there are any old results, they will be shown, left to right, from oldest to latest.
Right Arrow

Left Arrow

On the top left corner, the display indicates which record is being shown out of total records.
Print
