Note: In most of our matching and activity programs, the student must wait until the command voice has finished before he/she clicks on the object. For instance, the voice must finish “Match catching” before the student clicks on the catching picture. (If the student clicks on the catching picture before the voice command is finished, nothing will happen.) Therefore the teacher/parent needs to instruct the student to wait for the voice command to finish.

Here, we will use the division table to help the student divide numbers. The student puts the mouse on a number in the table (for instance, 20). The program highlights the 20 and shows a line to the left leading to the number 10 in the left-most column and also shows a line to the 2 in the top row. The number statement at the top reads “20 ÷ 10 = 2″ and the computer voice says “twenty divided by ten is two.” The student can do this as many times as he/she wants with as many different answers as he/she chooses. |

Auto Play
|
Check the “Auto Play” box to run the “Playing with Division Table” program automatically. The program will choose the answer to the division problem and show the number statement at the top of the screen and will say the number statement. The student can just sit back and watch, listen and learn. To stop the Auto Play, uncheck the box.

Click on “Division Using Division Table” and then click the “Enter” button to open this program. An incomplete number statement (for instance, 18 ÷ 6 =) appears at top of the screen. The program tells the student to click on the second number (6) which is highlighted in red in the left column, and then to click on the second number (18) which is highlighted in blue in the matrix. The answer (3) now gets a green highlight, and the program tells the student to click on the 3. The answer moves up into the missing space in the number statement, and the program voice says “Yes eighteen divided by six is three.”

This program uses the number line to help the student understand division. For instance, if the problem is 12 ÷ 3 =, the program will tell the student click the 12 on the number line. Then it will tell him/her to start at 0 and count 3 spaces to the right and click on that number. The program will tell the student to keep moving 3 spaces to the right and clicking on the last number until he/she reaches number 12, and then click the “Done” button. The answer (4) moves up into the missing space in the number statement, and the program voice says “Yes twelve divided by three is four” | ||||

In this program, a division problem (for instance, 18 ÷ 2 = ) is illustrated by sharing a certain number of apples (18) between a certain number of girls (2). When the student clicks on the first number (18) that many apples (18) appear on the screen. When the student clicks on the second number (2) that many girls (2) with baskets appear. The student then clicks on each apple, which then moves into a girl’s basket. Each apple gets a number when it gets into a basket. The student will be told to click on the last apple in the last basket, which will be blinking (that apple’s number is the answer). That number (9) will rise into the number statement.

In this program division is illustrated by dividing number apples into groups. If, for instance, the division problem (which appears at the top of the screen) is 18 ÷ 2 =, the student will be told to click on the first number (18) and 18 apples will appear on the screen. The student will then click on each of the apples (which will be blinking). The apples will go into numbered boxes (two per box) at the bottom of the screen. The number of the last box is the answer. The student clicks on the last blinking number, which rises into the number statement. The program voice states “Eighteen divided by two is nine” and 9 appears in the answer space

In this program a division problem (for instance, 14 ÷ 7 =) appears at the top of the screen with the answer space blank. Four numbers are the bottom of the screen. The program voice says “Fourteen divided by seven is how much? Click the correct answer.” If the student clicks the correct answer, the number rises to fill the answer space and the voice says “Fourteen divided by seven is two.” If the student needs more help in understanding the problem, the teacher or student can click on “help” at the bottom of the screen and then choose from the menu of help options which include Number Line Method and Division Table Method.

Division Table Method |
In this program the student clicks on numbers or the subtraction sign as guided by the computer. This will help the student to learn to do the proper steps in the correct order.
In this program there is an incomplete number statement (for instance, 20 ÷ 4 =) at the top of the screen. There is also a calculator in the lower part of the screen. The student should click on the numbers and symbols shown in the number statement. If the student clicks on the calculator keys correctly, the complete number statement (20 ÷ 4 = 5) will appear at the top of the screen.

In this program, a 4×4 square appears with sixteen small squares. When the student clicks on one of the small squares, a number or a division problem (without the answer) appears. The student tries to match each number with the problem to which the number is the answer. The student will be playing a memory game while strengthening his/her division skills.
