Months of the Year

This program helps the student to learn the months. There are six sub-programs.

Select a program by clicking on the program name at the left of the screen and then clicking the “Enter” button to open the program.

Click on the “ Help” button to view the help contents. The help file opens in a separate window.

About
Click on the “About” button to view the profile of this company.
Enter

After selecting a sub-program, click on the “Enter” button to open the program

Exit

To close this “Months of the Year” program, click on the “Exit” button.

Settings
Training

This option is selected by default. When this is selected, the program can be used to train the student.

Test

Select this option to measure the student’s progress. The “Report” button under “Test” mode is enabled. The “Prompt” is disabled.

Screen Display

Display in BIG LETTERS 

Display in BIG LETTERS This option is selected by default. When this is checked, all letters displayed on the screen will be big or capital letters.
Display in small letters
Display in small letters When this is checked, all letters displayed on the screen will be small.
Prompt with Green/Red Color

This check box is selected by default and is active only in training mode. This prompt is used to help the user find the correct answer on the screen. When this box is checked, the correct answer turns green as the mouse pointer passes over it and the wrong answers turn red.. Under test mode this option is turned off. For training mode the teacher/parent can select or deselect this option by clicking on it.

This option is enabled only for “Activity for Sequencing the Months”,
“Activity for Counting the Months” and “Discriminating Months in the Calendar”.

Command Text

This option is selected by default. When this is checked, a short text appears at the bottom of the screen. It tells the student how to complete the task. If unchecked, the text won’t be visible. This option is enabled for the entire program except for the “Months of the Year”.

Congratulatory Animation

This box is checked by default. This is available only for the “Training” mode. When this is checked, clicking the correct “Times of the Day” picture Invites a congratulatory animation. This animation runs for ten seconds. Click anywhere on the screen or press space bar to stop the congratulatory animation.

Uncheck the box if the student doesn’t need congratulatory animation.

Showing Months in the Calendar
When this option is selected, months will be displayed in a calendar format. Otherwise, only the names of the months are displayed. .

These sub-programs are:

1. Months of the Year

This program has five features. They are “Names of the Months,” Spelling the Months,”” “Description of the Months, “Counting the Months,” and “Order of the Months.”

Names of the Months

This feature names the twelve months of the year.

Spelling of the Months

This feature helps the student to spell the names of all twelve months.

Description of the Months

This feature describes each of the twelve month’s climates holidays, number of days, etc.

Counting of the Months

This feature names each of the twelve months with an ordinal number: “January is the first month”, etc..

Order of the Months

This feature names each of the twelve months with its prior and following months: “This month is July. The previous month is June. The next month is August,” etc.

Auto Play

Check this box to run the “Months of the Year” program automatically; the student can just sit back and watch. To stop the automatic run, check box for “Display when mouse is over months of the year”

. When this box is checked, the student
moves the mouse to any of the months to use any of the five features.

Showing Months in the Calendar

When this option is selected, months will be displayed in a calendar format. Otherwise, only the names of the months are displayed

Done

Click on the “Done” button to close “Months of the Year” and return to the main program.

2. Activity for Spelling the Months

This program asks the student to spell the name of the month by typing the letters. The name of the month that needs to be spelled will be highlighted on the left of the screen. Level 1/Level 2/Level 3, Training/Test, Screen Display (Display in BIG LETTERS/Display in small letters), Showing Months in the Calendar, Prompt with Green/Red Color, Command Text, and Congratulatory Animation can be selected for this program in the Settings screen.

3. Activity for Sequencing the Months

This program helps the student to sequence the months. Training/Test, Screen Display (Display in BIG LETTERS/Display in small letters), Showing Months in the Calendar, Command Text, and Congratulatory Animation can be selected for this program in the Settings screen.

Level 1

The program asks the student (for instance) “What month comes after January and February?” The student clicks on March to answer the question. In this level, the student needs to click only one month to complete the activity.

Level 2

The program asks the student (for instance) “What months come after December?” The student clicks on January and February to answer the question. In this level, the student needs to click two months to complete the activity.

Level 3

The program asks the student (for instance) “What month comes between August and October?” The student clicks on September to answer the question. In this level, the student needs to click only one month to complete the activity.

4. Activity for Counting the Months

This program helps the student to sequence the months. The program asks the student (for instance) “What is the second month of the year?” The student clicks on February to answer the questions. Training/Test, Screen Display (Display in BIG LETTERS/Display in small letters), Showing Months in the Calendar, Prompt with Green/Red Color, Command Text, and Congratulatory Animation can be selected for this program in the Settings screen.

5. Discriminating Months in the Calendar

This program helps the student to discriminate the months in the calendar. The program asks the student (for instance) “Find November.” The student clicks on November to answer the question. Training/Test, Screen Display (Display in BIG LETTERS/Display in small letters), Prompt with Green/Red Color, Command Text, and Congratulatory Animation can be selected for this program in the Settings screen.

6. Activity for Placing the Months in the Calendar

This program helps the student to place the months in the calendar. The program instructs the student (for instance) “Place February.” The student clicks, drags, and drops by clicking February in the right place to complete the first part of the activity. Then the program instructs the student” Place March” and the student repeats the activity with March.

The teacher/parent can set the activity so that the student will have to place 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 8 months, 10 months, or 12 months.
