Weather
This program uses weather names and pictures to help the student to learn listening, identifying and naming skills. There are five sub-programs.
Select a program by clicking on the program name at the left of the screen and then clicking the “Enter” button to open the program.

Click on the “About” button to view the profile of this company.

Help |
Click on the “Help” button to view the help contents. The Help file opens in a separate window. Click on the “Close” button in the Help file window to close the Help file.

Click on the “Enter” button to go to the program screen.

Exit |
To close this program, click on the “Exit” button.

Settings
|
|||
Level 1
|
When this option is selected, one weather picture appears at the top of the screen. For “Matching Weather using Pictures” and “Matching Weather using Words”, one weather picture is shown at the bottom of the screen to be matched with the one at the top, without any distracter. For “Discriminating Weather”, one weather picture appears on the screen. |

Level 2
|
When this option is selected, one weather picture appears at the top of the screen. For “Matching Weather using Pictures” and “Matching Weather using Words”, two pictures are shown at the bottom of the screen to be matched with the one at the top of the screen. There is one correct choice and one distracter. . For “Discriminating Weather”, two weather pictures appear on the screen. |

Level 3
|
This level is selected by default. One weather picture appears at the top of the screen. For “Matching Weather using Pictures” and “Matching Weather using Words”, three pictures are shown at the bottom of the screen to be matched with the one at the top of the screen. Among the three are one correct choice and two distracters. . For “Discriminating Weather”, three weather pictures appear on the screen. |

Training
|
This option is selected by default. When this is selected, the program can be used to train the student. |

Test
|
Select this option to measure the student’s progress. The “Report” button under “Test” mode is enabled. The “Prompt” is disabled. |

Screen Display
|

Display in BIG LETTERS |
|||
This option is selected by default. When this is checked, all letters displayed on the screen will be big or capital letters. |

Display in small letters
|
|||
When this is checked, all letters displayed on the screen will be small.
|
|||
Command Text |
|||
This option is selected by default. When this is checked, a short text appears at the bottom of the screen. It tells the student which items to identify. If unchecked, the text won’t be visible. This option is enabled only for “Discriminating Weather”, “Matching Weather using Pictures”, and “Matching Weather using Words”. |

Prompt
|
|||
This is checked by default. If the student fails to match the correct weather picture within ten seconds, the program guides him/her to the correct weather picture. This is available for “Training” mode but disabled for “Test” mode. |
|||
Uncheck this box if the prompt is not needed in “Training” mode. |
|||
This option is enabled only for “Discriminating Weather”, “Matching Weather using Pictures”, and “Matching Weather using Words”. |

With Blink
|
|||
This option is selected by default. If the correct weather picture is not chosen after ten seconds, it blinks.
|
|||
With Label
|
|||
The names of the weather appear below the pictures.
|
|||
With Animation
|
|||
If the correct weather picture is not chosen after ten seconds, an animation appears (the correct weather animates). |
|||
Congratulatory Animation |
|||
This box is checked by default. This is available only for the “Training” mode. When this is checked, clicking the correct weather invites a congratulatory animation. This animation runs for ten seconds. Click anywhere on the screen or press space bar to stop the congratulatory animation. |

Uncheck the box if the student doesn’t need congratulatory animation. |

Selection

Click on the check box to select or deselect weather type. |

Select All
|
|||
Check this box to select all weather types. Uncheck to deselect. |
These sub-programs are:
This program has three features. They are “Types of Weather”, “Spelling of Weather” and “Description of Weather”.
Types of Weather
This feature names the seven weather and they are windy, sunny, snowy, cold, cloudy, raining, and hot
Spelling of Weather
This feature helps to spell the words for all seven types of weather
Description of Weather
This describes types of weather and illustrates the weather with animation
Auto Play
Check this box to run the “Weather” program automatically; the student can just sit back and watch. To stop the automatic run, check box for “Display when mouse is over weather”
Display when mouse is over weather
When this box is checked, the student moves the mouse to any of the types of weather. If “Description of Weather” is also checked, clicking on the weather type will display a description and a picture illustrating weather.

Done
Click on the “Done” button to close “Weather” and return to the main program
This program asks the student to spell the weather word by typing the letters. The weather word that needs to be spelled will be highlighted on the left of the screen. Training/Test, Screen Display (Display in BIG LETTERS/Display in small letters), and Congratulatory Animation can be selected for this program in the Settings screen. |

Here, the program will ask the student to identify a weather type. The student is asked to find and click on the correct picture shown on the screen. |
